Desk Contract Managers/Propery Insurance Repairs Manager

The role
As soon as a claim’s been validated, you’ll swing into action. Making contact with the customer over the phone, you’ll let them know you’ll be managing the whole project to get their home back to normal in record time. (On average, you’ll deal with around 400 cases a year.)
You’ll talk with one of our Surveyors to confirm the scope of work, work out a schedule for repairs and decoration, and liaise with our carefully-vetted partners and specialist trade teams to get together a project plan. It’s here that your knowledge of the building trade will prove invaluable – both in being able to plan the work in a logical order – and in giving you credibility with a whole range of trades people. Of course, it will also give you the negotiating power to ensure costs and timelines are strictly controlled.
Most importantly of all, you’ll also keep in touch with the customer at all times, checking that all the work is going ahead as planned and that their needs are being met every step of the way.
You will need
To join us, you’ll need to prove you’ve got experience and/or qualifications in the building, construction or trades sectors and that your customer service skills are second-to-none. Your offices
You will be based in our Pomona building on Pear Street, Sheffield. There are kitchen facilities on site and also a canteen. The building is also close to the Ecclesall Road area where there are lots of shops and facilities.
About the role
This office based position is key to the customer experience and our relationship with them. You will handle their claims over the phone, from initial contact through to repudiation, ensuring that they understand the process and are kept informed progress. Your duties will include assessing claims, commissioning any inspections needed and compiling surveyor reports. At the end of the process you will work with the customer to agree claim settlement costs.
About you
We’re interested in meeting a qualified surveyor with a CII Diploma, HNC in trade and preferably an insurance qualification. You’ll need good knowledge of the insurance industry and experience of managing costs on settlements, as well as a background in working as a building Surveyor and Supervisor in the building trade. It is also important that you have highly developed communication, interpersonal and IT skills, alongside a strong customer focus.
